i'm hoping to get my car painted over the winter or right after, so i was wondering what you guys think about color??

i was thinking about keeping the stock maroon. then i thought i would go with a mkiv color[although i don't know many of them].

i was going to go with a light gloss black on my rex then several coats of clear with purple flake in it and go really heavy with the flake on the scoop.

any ideas, i don't want mine to look like everyone elses but i don't want paint that belongs on a thiry thousand dollar 92 civic either :roll eyes:

depends on your interior. Mine is maroon in and out. I am probably gunna stick with the factory color but with some tweaking to make it shine and maybe a very subtle color change.

My friend has a 97 Civic EX with about 12k under the hood alone. His paint is called Fire Copper Metallic Pearl and looks like a brand new penny in the sun to an orangeish rust color at night. Also has ghost flames up the hood and front fenders. I havent talked to him in years so I dont know if he still has it but it was the fastest all motor civic in jacksonville last time i saw the numbers.

I'm looking for a new metallic one. Firts thinking on metallic orenge, finally it will be metallic dark blue (as actual celicas or Ravs)
if you do that..ur not gonna leave the engine bay and shit like that maroon are you?.....cause damn..that would be hideous.

I'm in the same boat you are, I'm planning on pain't my MKIII when i lose my license this winter !!!!!DAMN!!!!! but I've always wanted a very glossy Jet black supra.... so I'm planning on doing that when I get the cash.

whatever you do, make sure you match your interior, or else it will just look like shit. I wouldn't go too heavy on the flake either, as it would make the paint look cloudy. I wouldn't use more than 1 teaspoon per cup (meaning average full container on paint gun).

okay i have grey interior, and yes i would love blak[with a purple flake] but i'm leaning toward a red......mainly so i don't have to pull my engine to get a decent spray in the engine bay.

does anyone have stock mkiv colors and codes or some other really cool reds, close to stock for my maroon prefurably

SlimFastSupra i was thinking about the jade green from the 97 AE car, but i dunno if that would look cool or not.

silverinferno84, not knocking the paint, but that dosn't do a thing for me.....at all. noce body though and love the bling bling sawblades.

what i've decided is that i'm going to stay 'close to stock'...i have no reason to remove my engine and the more i drive my car the more i like my color[well at least the parts with the new paint from the accident fix;D] anyway....im thinking about options i don't want flames or flame outlines, or even ghost flames!!!

so what do you guys think pearl?, flake?, candy?.....maybe a litlle cameleon if it could be done like.....maybe stock varying to purple or blue or even just other shades of red at the least

i'd appriceate your input....

My car is black, But I personally really like the way becauseIcan's car looks in silver with the molding deleted.
Most important is like everyone says, engine bay and door jambs painted same color, and interior matching. Definitely worth seeking out a quality shop.

Honestly, with a Maroon interior I'd either go black or stick with Maroon. I've always wondered about the maroon-ish color seen on the C5 vettes, I think that color would be an awesome color for a MK3.
