I am thinking about going to the dark side V8 turbocharged car...
I was about to get a Evo or something from the import market down here in Miami but decided to do something different this time around.. I been attending some ADRL events and the turbo V8's are growing on me very fast.

I really like the C6 Corvette and the 2010 Camaro but at the end of the day all I want is a good platform car to start a new project to kick ass on the street and runs some good numbers on the 1/4 track with the stock motor for the first couples of years.

The final plans is to built the motor down the road with some E85 but always be street car like my Supra that I can take out on the weekends.

The LSX is the herpes of the automotive world. That being said, I don't think there is a better doemstic platform to build upon within a reasonable budget.

Screw a V8, get a V10!

A TT Viper would make any stock bottom end V8 look stupid as would a stock bottom end TT Gallardo.
Screw V8's get a motherfucking V10.

A TT Viper on the stock bottom end would make a stock LSx look ridiculous.

A TT Gallardo to even more of an extent would have style and prestige as well as some awesome top end power.

Thats what I would go with.
Thanks for your input. I was having a hard time deciding between a Camaro, a TT Viper that costs 10X as much, and a TT Gallardo that costs 30X as much, but since you posted this twice, I've decided on the Veyron.

A used SRT-10 Viper is about as much as a used C6 Z06. Viper tax is a bitch but it would be a good way to go if you want to go really fast.

Realistically I would say go with a C5 Z06. You can get them under 20k used in good condition and mod the hell out of them for about as much as your Supra. A stock LS6 won't take more than 600whp reliably though.

Budget is kind of necessary for these discussion though. If you have the money, some of these high hp GTRs are almost impossible to compete against on the street because of the AWD and transmission. You can pick up a used GTR for about the same as a C6 Z, or an SRT10 Viper, but the GTR tax is about the same if not more than the Viper's.

Thanks for all your replies and input....

Depends on what you want to do with it. If you just want to go fast in a straight line and drink Busch, Fox Body or LS1 Camaro. Budget?
Yes is mostly for straight line and drag radials duty, the budget is about $50,000 to start for the first year.

Any LSX powered car. F-Body Camaro/Trans Am is a bad ass platform. We've done some pretty awesome things with those motors. Camaros, Trans Ams, Corvettes, etc etc.
Reid I really don't like the looks of the F-Body cars more into the new generation looks and interior..

Crazy camaro you have on that video.. Great job...
I will PM with some question about turbo upgrade path for the new project..
Maybe we can get a Proefi in the mix...

I do have a budget but I will sure love to have a TT Gallardo some day.

Remember the key here is to use the stock engine of the car for a while and use all the modifying money in the turbo kit, twin plate clutch and ECU E85 fuel system to start with and have some fun with those mods for a while before building the engine for crazy power....

2011 Mustang GT. Fords OHC V8s love boost and the new 5.0L is a great overall engine.[/QUOTE

my guess is you havent had your hands on one. Its possible to do put a turbo on it but just do some research, not as easy as saying so.

this....

This is what I would do if I wanted to scratch a domestic itch on a budget:

chassis:
Foxbody Trunk Car

suspension:
team Z

engine:
1) 4 valve mod motor with a g4788
2) LSX gt4788
3) 351 dart block/ported patriot heads/custom cam gt4788
4) 2jz 4788 for the ultimate bastard though

A boosted Viper after 1999 can not make/hold more power than a boosted C5/C6.

A C6 Z06 has much more potential than a SRT-10 Viper

I don't know about that. A stock bottom end Viper V10 from the SRT-10 would be more reliable on the stock bottom end than the LS7 at the same power level. There are guys pushing 1000rwhp on stock internals and only boosting 10psi! Even with the LS7's cubes you are looking at boosting 15psi and thats on a high compression motor.

I'm not a fan of Vipers due to their lack of refinement and safety but I respect the power plant they have and know its one of the strongest motors on the market. And as I said before you can pick up a used SRT-10 for the same price as a used C6 Z06. Viper tax would kill you though as you would pay almost 2x more for modifications.
