Pulled apart my 2jzge motor and noticed some corrosion/pitting on some of the block coolant passages (See photo). Will the head gasket still seal? or will I need to have this repaired?
It's very normal to see that on these older engines now.
The ideal fix is to fully disassemble the shortblock and have the block surface decked to a 40RA or smoother finish. But with careful use of those rubber cleaning discs on a die grinder you can clean up the surface pretty well and get a good seal with a new headgasket.
