If you hit 10-11 psi in first gear; i'm sure you would lose complete control.

Well, not quite. I run 13 psi in 1st, up to 16 psi in 5th, and I don't lose control. Grippy tires helps a lot.

Don't sell the stock head gaskets short, folks. I've run 15 psi daily on an OEM head gasket, torqued to 75+ with ARP headbolts, and it's fine. There are people who run much higher than that with the stock HG.

Personally, I won't upgrade to a MHG until I'm over 400 rwhp.

Shimming the wastegate will help keep boost high until redline with a manual boost controller. it's easy to do, follow the link that was posted earlier.

I'd SERIOUSLY suggest picking up a manual boost controller from DrJonez - his are very good quality and cheap - IIRC mine was $25 shipped to my door. His website is http://4cefed.com off the top of my head.
