im pritty much a newb at all of this so dont laugh. by fuel cut you mean the car basicly stalling kinda deal? cause my car regardless what the boost is set at, it stalls. like if i have the car in part and bring the RPM's to around 4000 and let go of the gas completely, the car with stall and all the check engine lights and what not will come on. im running 10psi right now and my car is an automatic. i havent tried bringing the boost down yet but im sure i'll get the same results. cause this has happend before and after i got my manual boost controller put in. i also have a blitz BOV if that means anything.

sounds like you could have a boost leak, thats a common problem with boost leaks, also i'm not sure about the blitz bov but if its adjustable you may need to adjust it.

does the car stall out at a certain boost psi every time? or sparatically? check for loose hoses or hoses with cracks.

:) my fuel cut is somewhere around 15 or 16psi, i wonder what determines that.

Fuel cut for those who dont' know, feel like you're accelerating then all of the sudden your car just stops accelerating and boosting at the same time and the gives you the feeling like you hit something and you hear a thud but your car does not actually stall. It feels like you broke something but it's okay. Just don't be like "Hey want to see what fuel cut is like?" because then you're just stupid by showing it to people, Toyota created it to protect the engine

okay i have heard about this all the time and always wondered how to do it. People talk about putting washers on their turbo somewhere so the internal wastegate actuator arm can't function fully to open the little flapper door to let out the exhaust at certain boost levels which in other words limits you to the factory set boost level of about 8psi. I'm just wondering how to cheaply rig a few washers to my actuator to make more boost so i can get a feal of 10psi before i buy a manual boost controller. I need someone to explain in full depth detail the procedures or send a link.
Dont go this cheap route. It is better to just start out right. You can get a 1st gen HKS EVC(electronic boost controller) on ebay for around $125-$150 and you can turn it on and off as you choose. I can gaurantee that once you up the boost you wont go back to stock and then its all over for you cuz you will be always looking for ways to get more. Welcome to modding the supra!!

yeah, once you feel 11psi ull never want to drop back. i got my car to boost about 13psi in first and i got it all the way up to a 18psi fc. that was for a cruise to work on the freeway tho. i adjusted and brought it back down haha. didnt see that high of boost levels in high rpms tho, im not that stupid. but i did have the fp cranked way up to make up for the extra air :-D. i did see it spike to 20 psi a couple of times in first when the bc was acting up. and that infact did break the tires loose. brand new 235's, 17s. its hard to get those things to break loose for some reason(dying turbo). my buddy can do it all day long in his auto with the old factory type tires. 1st and part of second. its fun :-D

You have to understand that the engine is not putting out enough exhaust velocity in first gear because there is not a big enough load on the engine; hence the turbo doesn't spool up fully. If you hit 10-11 psi in first gear; i'm sure you would lose complete control.

I have been using an MBC and even though I have a bit more room to play with; I boost anywhere from 14 psi on a warm day to 17-18 psi @ night..

You should set an MBC to 10... since most people's fuel cut is @ 12...

Good luck!

true, I was just out driving in 4th gear on a flat road and I hit 14psi. Then I flew up a steep hill and the boost settled at 15 psi. I would say stock fc is around 11.5 psi. Then if you back out the stock screw to get 13-14 psi. But it depends on how well the air is flowing. I could run 15 psi on the stock exhaust for a few seconds before I hit fc. Then I added a dp and hit fc instantly.

the 7M runs so rich that what i would do is drill out the metal plug where your afm screw is and back it all the way out. I could get ~15 psi by doing that

instead of doing the washer thing , couldnt you just use spacers and not have to fiddle with a bunch of washers?
why would you do either. just get a boost controller!!!!!

Is the stock head gasket durable enough to not blow at 10-12psi?
all depends on the condition of youe engine and fuel system. If it is tired and weak dont expect to last all that long. I hit 14 psi when I was adjusting my evc and since then I just leave it turned off cuz I hit 10psi without it. however I am in the process of building another motor w/ a mhg cause I want more boost and dont want to have to worry about my stock hg giving up. btw I only have about 3000 miles on my stock hg.

you can also reroute your vacume lines and run 10psi,well mine is running that right now. some may vary.

it stalls regardless. if im going 10km or 50km, if i release my foot off the gas it will just stall. but if i ease off of it, its all fine.

wow, you guys do know your supras turbo (ct26) i had fuel cut at exactly 11psi... :)

Don't sell the stock head gaskets short, folks. I've run 15 psi daily on an OEM head gasket, torqued to 75+ with ARP headbolts, and it's fine. There are people who run much higher than that with the stock HG.

Personally, I won't upgrade to a MHG until I'm over 400 rwhp.

Shimming the wastegate will help keep boost high until redline with a manual boost controller. it's easy to do, follow the link that was posted earlier.

I'd SERIOUSLY suggest picking up a manual boost controller from DrJonez - his are very good quality and cheap - IIRC mine was $25 shipped to my door. His website is http://4cefed.com off the top of my head.

how the hell do you people hit like 12 psi on 1st? i barely get boost on first if at like woot mabe i say bout 4 psi at most?? lolz

is that using the stock guage? because if that's it then forget it.
if you're using an aftermarket guage then make sure you have a good source.
