The other day I was reading a kill story at supraforums.com and some guy was talking about a BOV. I know its a blow off valve, but what is its use? Does it add any HP? If someone could help me out, it would be great. Thanx
It is just a release valve. The pressure in the intake needs to be released. When the throttle is released it sends a signal to the BOV to open the pressure is released thus the psssssshhhhhhttttt sound. No horsepower increase! It is necessary though for turbo vehicles. i think that the only advantage to an aftermarket BOV that I have seen in ads is that turbos will be more responsive.
An aftermarket BOV might make your car a little faster(not much) if you're BPU because it will eliminate some backpressure on the turbos and give you less turbo lag between shifts.
