I Broke this subframe because of just to much Torque. As you can see there is hardly anything left. I could tell it was messed up because when i would let off the gas i would hear a loud metal flexing sound and the car shake. I put her on a lift and saw this:

There was hardly anything holding the car together back there!
I recently purchased a Sub Frame from onebad7m down in L.A. who had a sub frame with only about 30k miles on it straight from japan off a 2.5 twin turbo r version.

Wow thats nasty... How much TQ were you putting at the rear wheels when you did that? On the bright side looks like you got a great new one with some xtra goodies.

Haven’t Dyno’d yet but it’s suppose to be around 420rwhp. Unsure of the Torque. I Couldn’t Dyno with that Sub frame! Now maybe I can go get some numbers down on paper now that its fixed! :bigthumb:

May be a dumb question but are there any fixes out there to prevent this from happening? Like welding in steel where they sub-frame commonly breaks, or maybe additional / stronger supports?

If you look at the pics you can see the newer sub frame has like some sort of strut bars running along side of the diff.

drjonez just said that seems to help/ prevent this from happening!
I hear it's not to uncommon for this to happen! So i guess it would be good to have!

I tried welding too!

Welding didn't help at all! It would just help me drive it somewhere else to break it again! I would think the only way to prevent this is those little bars! Maybe some one could make some more of those bars so supra's that don't have them could get them! Maybe even make them out of Titanium or something cool!

Those bars can be added to pre-89 subframes pretty easily.
