Hey eveybody,
I am new member and i have a question, it is probably a bad question that is frequently asked but I am thinking of buying a 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo. I am aware of the head gasket problem but is there anyway to check if the head gasket is leaking. Also are there any other problems or anything i should know about. The Supra looks like it is in good conditon and has no modifications on it,i have not seen it yet i have only seen pictures but im am hoping to see it on Friday or Saturday. What does Death wine sound like. Any help will be appreciated, Thanks

take it to a mechanic and have them do a compression test and a leakdown test.... for the compression test the numbers should be in the 160s for a "perfect" compression.....anything above 140 is basically good...anything below that is something to think about..... and the 6 numbers shouldnt be more then 10-15 apart from each other..or something is wrong.....or will be wrong soon! lol

you can pull off the accordian hose with about 4 screws.....feel the shaft play on the turbo....up down in and out...and see how that is...... just check everything you can......

and if you really want to be sure...you can bring it to toyota and for like 70 bucks they will do a 124 pt inspection..or something like that....... and they will tell you everything the car has problems with!

HTH.
