like an idiot, i let the cam snap out of the head on the exhaust side , and it looks like one of the lobes caught the bottom half of the one journal. the cap is fine

it looks like it's about .005" deep or less (barely feel it with finger nail)



question is , how bad is "bad" ? it's going to a machine shop regardless

just make sure that it is polished out, or smooth so there is no foreign material protruding out and you will be fine, thats nothing to get worked up over.

oh, also, just thinking here, are you sure that you actually did this while uninstalling the cams? i ask because this looks familiar to me, as i have seen metal shavings make it up to the cam journals and make these types of scores. are there any other journals with scores?

rub it 4-5 passes with 2000grit by hand with wd40 to knock any high spots down and run it.
