Also, will it function properly? OBD II vs. OBDI. Is this upgrade nessesary at BPU level? What are the benefits vs. the BCC? I'll appreciate any responses.
yes,but check engine light will come on,the '97 has 2 oxygen
sensors and the obd1 has one ,i think the obd2 looks for it and cant find causing check engine light

Yes they do work.... 97-98 car with g force prolly will set off a check engine light... just make sure its for a auto if yours is a auto and 6 spd if your a 6 spd... another thing is ther is no such thing as a 97-98 g force..... there all OBD1 as far as I know they cant reprogram the OBD2 computers yet... so the G-force computer is actually a OBD1 so u dont have to worry about it... good luck...
