Nice! Please do not get almost to the end and sell it, is super common on the “every part perfect” builds! I think that the canton systems are band aids also , anything serious enough to warrant one should really just have a dry sump- if you just weld suction ports into your existing sump and build your own brackets it is affordable; used parts can be had cheap from sprint car specific shops

Can you shed some more light on the crank setup here?
I probably could but I'd honestly rather not. There's around a year and several thousand dollars worth of work into the crank design alone.

Please do not get almost to the end and sell it,
Never. This car has sentimental value to me. I'll be buried/viking funerald with this car.

If you hadn't noticed by everything else, cost is almost never a factor here. I spent a few years trying to work a dry sump system out for this build and no matter how I went about it there was no good way of doing it without major sacrifices to driveability.

Did some google cd009/Supra searches, is the flywheel hub an adapter bolted to the crank or is this a custom piece?
If you're looking at the crank the hub is part of the crank itself. If you're looking at my old setup (honestly don't what I have picture wise for that in this thread) it's a modified 7M flywheel that bolt directly to the crank, so no adapter is used.

Burying threads in the Builds subforum is a good way to hide them.

That AC tuck is awesome!
Really cleaned up that side of the engine bay. I have been, unfortunately, considering doing the same to my daily driver 87.

Unfortunately I don't really have anything meaningful to this as I've been spending all of my free time doing a front-to-back, top-to-bottom redo of my brothers 87 turbo 5 speed. And even though the car isn't mine (and I'm not getting paid), the same level of nitpicky OCD is going into this project too. So it'll be a couple months at least before I get back to my 89 build.

As penance, and to not totally waste a self-bump, here's what it looked like when we brought it home:

And currently:

ACT popcorn blue
I feel like it took me entirely too long to figure out what you were talking about here:LOL:
The actual color is Toyota 8L5 Royal Sapphire Pearl.

Seeing door jams and trim taken off for paint makes a world of a difference.
It hurts my heart to see someone go through the effort of doing paint and skipping out on a really basic thing that makes a world of a difference. With that said I may have gone a bit overboard with it....

Covered all of the OEM red in the interior with blue epoxy sealer. Once the interior goes in it'll never be seen, but that's just how I roll I guess..

Looks like a nice clean base to start with!
Aside from the totally shot paint and trim, every body panel on the car was straight and completely dent free. The only rust on the car was the usual battery tray stuff and a little on the hatch pinch seam where the seal goes. No holes anywhere. I didn't even want to remove the door and hood hinges because everything lined up perfectly.

That’s beautiful 🤩 you guys wouldn’t know because I’ve been keeping it secret but I just did something similar with the expound sealant in the boot ( I speak Australian now) of my R33 because shoddy hack job fuel pump wiring, the battery and everything is already in the trunk so I upgraded and sealed everything in black epoxy

I think I might return to my Toyota ways real soon though I promise

Wow is all I have to say to the level of quality and detail on this build @Captain. Its amazing work and its making me feel like I should just tear mine down further than I already have and build it back to brand new. I think Ill stick with one thing at a time though (as if I dont have to fix the wiring, reupolster the seats, painted interior, and new weatherstripping) as fixing all the wiring BS in my car was enough for the moment and I really want to have it drivable for summer. Keep up the good work!
