Ok guys…. I need some serious help and I need it from the guys that pretty much know the cars from in and out…. Here is what happened today.

I put the JIC coilovers on the car yesterday. Car sat really low. I completely forgot to raise it and left it as it was…. Long story short… driver side is missing the wheel well cover so the tire somewhat shredded my wires. Barely grazed them but managed to pull them a bit…. To the point all my interior lighting / gauges had turned off and exterior lighting wasn’t responding as well. Ok….I pull over placed it in park and turned the car off. When I tried putting it back in gear it wouldn’t go so some guy says….

“You have a safety switch that you can put it into neutral. The mechanic will know how to reset it”. (pushed the little button by the shift lever) So we did that and pushed the car out of the street. AAA tows car home. Where I finished my wiring dilemma. Plugged everything back and all the interior / exterior lights work again…..

PROBLEM:

Car will not crank over at all now. I’ve checked all my fuses in the bay and interior. What is causing it not to crank? My first guess is that “park / neutral switch” that we pressed…. Or the factory theft deterrent system.

How does one go about resetting the park / neutral switch?
OR
Reset the theft system ?

Clearly it’s something blocking it from proceeding to startup.

Solution to turn it on:

I jumped the starter relay pin 1 and 3 to turn it over and it fired right up like normal. So…. I know something is just in safety mode. I need this fixed before Friday. SOMEONE…. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

I already took out the ecu1 and ecu2 fuses from the relay box and unplugged the battery. Checked each fuse at the junction box by the foot. Everything is responding as it should.

Thanks guys

make sure your alarm isn't on theft mode. my car wont let me crank if it's not unlocked by my alarm system.

thanks guys for the response.... ok so far I did the following.
locked the car from the outside had to click it over twice then the factory alarm light turned on and stayed on for a few seconds then started the blinking process.... after that I unlocked the drivers door and tried it. fail....

then I was told the park / neutral switch is spring loaded so it should pop back up. push forward the shift lever w/ a little force.... fail too....

I've checked the fuses a billion times already.... so aggravating because everything was working fine as far as this goes. So wtf happened.

Carlos,

I a scenario like this you need to pop out the good old factory wiring diagram and retrace the starting circuit. You start at the ignition switch and look for a short. The ignition isnt a very complicated circuit but you need to go step by step and check it. I will look at my wiring diagrams to check how it works and I'll post some stuff for you to check out.

thanks bud.... I greatly appreciate it. electrical stuff is where I fall short as you guys can tell.... why the hell did this happen tho is what I'm questioning. The ignition was working perfectly well.

I noticed the wiring that was exposed was the fat white w/ the red strip but it's still sending a signal from what my tester indicates.

Thanks to Jason and Eric for showing up at my home we managed to get the car running again. Eric pretty much took control and fixed the problem. Turned out one of the harness' leading to the theft ecu had unclipped from the harness so he did some wiring and the starter fuse was blown.

FSR and Jason.... thanks so much guys I really... REALLY appreciate your help with this issue. One more electrical lesson I learned.
