Car shuts off randomly

Just bought a supra last week.

94 original TT 6spd
Garrett gt4088 .96 A/R
RC 1200cc injectors
Dual Denso fuel pumps
PHR fuel Rail
Fuel lines set up on e85
Aeromotive fpr
AEM v2

Running on 93 octane

The seller did warn me about the car needing a new tune.

I was driving the car the other day and it randomly shut off on me.. The radio and electronics were still on but I had to crank the motor again while rolling. Sometimes if I pop it back in gear at a higher speed roll it'll turn back on without having to crank it. It doesn't happen at any particular speed. I've ha it happen at 60mph and I've had it happen at 10mph. It seems to happen when I get out of gear.

At first I thought it was the alarm because it would go off while driving. I removed the alarm today and it still shut off on me.. Any ideas??

**EDIT**
Car was tuned. Still having the same problem

It's probably in the tune since he warned you that it needed one. Maybe it doesn't have enough fuel at a certain rpm and negative vacuum. You can probably data log it while driving and see where it cuts off and check the tune to see if everything looks o.k.

Sometimes a short in the harness will shut the car off at random. Hitting a bump or turning and making a wire ground out would kill the engine at different rpms and speed such as your are experiencing.

When mine went out on me, the car would not start. Fortunately, it shut down in my driveway while motor was timing down. The car would not re-start until it was replaced. This was my one and only experience with this issue so I am not clear on whether symptoms can occur as you described above. Good luck.

I know this will sound ridiculous... But I had the same problem. It must have stalled 100 times randomly (6spd) whether driving, decelerating etc. Just by luck, Redline shock proof heavy LSD oil was on sale, bought it, changed it and during the change I noticed that the diff oil was in really bad shape (94 TT). Anyways after the shock proof heavy went in for whatever reason, the car never stalled again! Not even once..

Really strange yes, but I swear by Redline's shock proof heavy gear oil for this reason and because it works well too!
Just thought I'd share my common symptom, hope it helps.. Good luck!

Is it doing any other weird random things?

So it only shuts off when u throw it out of gear? Can u keep it alive if u give it gas?

I'm guessing u would have a wideband by the other mods listed, how r ur afr, stable? Erratic?

Well I had a similar stalling problem, I had a ruff idle, and it turned out to b A bad Tps. Did ur tuner experience the stalling problem; if not trying hooking aem to computer and simulating the stall: bring ur rpms up and just let off the gas So it dies and see if anything does seem right, bring it up to ur tuner or sf

Same here with the electronics staying on, could clutch start it, turn the key and start back no problem. Mine would also stall when clutching in or taking out of gear, or letting off the throttle. Have you changed/checked the diff oil since you acquired the car? I remember feeling a slight vibration sometimes in the gas pedal while negotiating certain turns. I don't know yet the cause why bad diff oil would cause the engine to shut off randomly, but I do know your symptoms happened to me also and was solved when I changed my diff oil that just happened to be really bad.

I wonder if anyone else had the same experience? We'll see..
