So I receantly sold my 87 Turbo to a guy in Texas. It shipped out to him and when he got it hes saying there are a couple of problems. One of them is the fact that the car wont rev past 4000 rpms. I did a search and found these threads:

When I shipped the car it was running fine. Could the TPS slip off during transport or could it be something else that is causing this problem? I relize that the car is now his and its his problem, but I feel bad never the less. Any help you guys could give would be great.

Thanks, Drew

Did you sell the car "as is"?
Yes, but I wouldn't like it if someone did this to me, so I wont do it to him. I need your guys help so I can try and point him in the right direction to fix the problem.

I would think its a problem with fuel... need more info though than just wont rev past 4k. Does it cut out at 4k? Does it just seem like not enough power to go past 4k?

it could also be a restricted vacuum line somewhere, make sure somthing isnt pinched, or a restricted exhasut make sure if u had the car shipped on trailer that he exhasut wanst pinched. also have him make sure everything is plugged in, when my maf sensor is undone it wont rev about 2k. hope this helps homes.

seeing it was shipped out, i would have him check for a crack in the hoses for the piping (as might of snagged on something and caused a tear)

if not, then i would say have him check the tps

where in tx? i might be able to drop by if its in houston and help him
