Hello,
I am basic BPU for the time being...i dont have any plans to take this car to big single or anything in the near future so I am looking for suggestions on a nice clutch kit for my car...
BTW i did search this and couldn't find an up to date thread on this exact issue..
when i bought this supra around 6 years ago the previous owner had put a brand new stock clutch kit in the car but left the flywheel...when i bought the car i immediately put BPU mods on the car as listed in my sig and its been that way ever since...Ive only put about 5k miles on the car since then, but I feel like the cluthc is still good but the stock flywheel is worn pretty bad...
Im gonna take this opportunity to put a brand new clutch and brand new flywheel in the car so I am asking for everyone's opinions on a nice clutch and flywheel combo..
Basically I want a clutch that feels like stock but can hold just a little more power.(im surprised how well the stock clutch holds 400rwhp)
I also kind of want an upgraded flywheel but i DO NOT want it to rattle and make noise (my stock one does this now and i hate it)
My biggest concern is a heavy pressure plate that can cause problems in the future i.e crank walk....i dont want this to happen...

So i guess what i am asking is for a clutch that feels, sounds, and acts like stock but is upgraded..if thats even possible..
any suggestions will help me out
thanks
Anthony

Suprised so few replies :(

My car is BPU, probably running around 400BHP and a year or so ago my stock clutch started slipping and I went for a Centerforce Dual Friction after doing quite a bit of research. I'm really happy with my choice, although i've probably put less than 2000 miles on it as yet. I notice it grabs more than a stock clutch but is no heavier (as best I can tell) although coming with an increased pressure plate. I fitted a new stock flywheel at the time.

I went with a South Bend PP (which is a modified oem unit) and new stock clutch & flywheel. The increased pedal pressure is very slight, it doesn't rattle in normal driving and holds the power just fine.

^^^^ anyone experiencing any crank walk issues with a setup like you have....thats my biggest concern with the upgraded PP
Ill prob just end up going with a stock flywheel...seems to be the most logical choice and i know it wont rattle

Not that I've heard. I do have the clutch safety switch bypassed (start the car in neutral with clutch engaged.) My car has about 92K on it and used to have a much stiffer ACT PP. No sign on crank walk so far.

^^^ thx i have been wanting to do the switch for the clutch for a while now so i dont have to push it to start the car for the crank walk reason..i have about the same miles as you have.

I cant seem to find any good directions for doing the clutch bypass mod....I dont like to just go cutting wires without being 100% sure with this car

thx
