i've never used a R154 before, so i have no idea how a puller type clutch is supposed to perform. but i installed everything for my 5-speed conversion, and bled the lines for like 20 min, but the pedal feels soft compared to my friends RB25 clutch. i have a RPS pressure plate (blacK) and a 6-puck for my 1jz.

is this a correct amount of movement for a r154?

Looks about right, if the pedal is mushy it's b/c you need to flush/bleed the clutch fluid or your slave/master cylinder is getting weak.

mines pretty mushy too. I replaced my master cylinder and bled my lines good. Try replacing the slave and see what happens

replace them both (slave and master) and be done with it. my pedal stays to the floor consistently so i figure do the slave, but then it was the master, so might as well do em both one time and not worry about it. oh and of course bleed it
