My stock springs and shock were shot, so I went with aftermarket coilovers a few months ago, set up the desired height then got it laser aligned. After 60mi, I lifted up the front 5mm higher than the initial setup in order to pass the technical inspection which requires a minimum ride height where I live. I was told that 5mm would not affect the alignment significantly so there was no need to get it realigned. After driving this way for around 3000 mi, I would like to raise the front a bit more, maybe between 5 and 10 mm. It also seems that the coilovers broke in a bit, so the front does look slightly lower than when they were new.
I would not tolerate dodgy handling, vibrations, tramlining, uneven tire wear or whatever effect caused by a bad alignment, so I am curious to know roughly what kind of margin is acceptable to tune the ride height without aligning it again. Any thoughts? Thanks.
The car is a MKIV btw.
