anyone who wants to offer some advice on this.. it would be really appreciated. okay, here are the facts:

my car has the following relevant parts: hks ssqv, hks evc 5, stock turbos (low mileage)

situation: i was boosting fine a few days ago (hitting 17 psi easily, getting up to 19 sometimes) and last night when i was driving, when i would romp on it (in any boost setting) it reaches 10-11 easily (first turbo) then transitions to the second and slowly loses boost (like down to 8 at redline)

my friend and i noticed this and popped the hood in a parking lot to check it out for vac leaks. none. it was pulling 20.5 psi vacuum.

we revved it up some and noticed that when you build boost, it is disappating really strangely. it sounds as if the air is coming back out of the intake (i know that sounds weird, but that is the sound it is making). also, the ssqv isn't making the high pitched noise it used to when releasing.

so, my guess is the ssqv isn't set right or something. i dont know how to set it because the instructions were in japanese. so if anyone can think of a solution or how to set the ssqv, i would appreciate it so much.

thanks in advance.

Maybe your pressure tank blew?

Or ...I forget what those two little hoses are on the back of the engine right behind the row of plugs, but it seems I've heard of boost problems when they're cracked.

thanks for the advice.. i just changed my plugs last night too.. i might have taken those off by accident.

how come the air sounds like it's coming back through the intake? i was really worried.. but this doesn't sound too bad.

thanks again :>

you don't make boost without load..... In other words, revving the motor in a parking lot isn't going to make boost.
it makes about 2-3 psi.. enough to blow off usually

^^ is this while your in neutral? if so your boost gauge may be off. as mentioned by 98mkiv, your not suppose to be making any boost with no load on the motor.

so i checked the hoses and everything was fine. i ran the car again and it was the same problem.

i pulled the fuses to reset the ecu then went around romping on it and now it's pulling 17 psi in first again..

any ideas why it's being tempermental like that? i think she is running strong but i wanna make sure nothing serious is wrong before the summer starts up.

Is this completely true because it definately sounds like the bov is blowing a lot of air and the turbos are spooling; especially if you slowly rev the car using the throttle bracket?

the second turbo holds well at 18.5-19 psi but once i go over about 120-130 mph, it has boost creep up to about 20 psi. but that only happens at high speeds and cold environments.

i am working on getting an egt that i will put in a 2 pod a-piller but i don't know what to get for the other gauge.
