NC is already full. There is no more room :p . Actually, in the RTP area, the IT market is pretty saturated, especially with all the layoffs at Nortel and IBM.

Waxhaw isnt too bad. My advice would to be staying out of the Charlotte and Raleigh market. Hickory isnt too bad for IT jobs. Isnt saturated yet either. What kind of IT would you like to do specifically?

Come to Lake Norman. hehe. It's growing like crazy. Many large companies are moving there and the lake is awesome. Plus, you are not to far from Charlotte or Winston-salem.

Lake norman isnt really a community. More like a general area. Hickory you could probably get a job as the IT guy at one of the furniture places. Or rahter, it would be easiest to find an IT job at one of the frniture companys. Their are several places that I am sure would have you.

Raleigh/RTP is VERY saturated.....

But there are a LOT of openings... depends on who you know and/or what your resume looks like.

Probably, but the cost of living is cheaper here than in Jersey.

Yeah, pay will go down. But so will taxes and general cost of everything.

A guy I work with is from NJ and lived there most of his life. The company we work for relocated him from NJ to the Triangle (RTP) and he was unpleasantly surprised by the cost of living here. Of course, that was in 2000 when the job market in RTP was HOT and the unemployment rate in the 1% range!! Things have changed dramatically in the last 5 years.

Asheville is expensive as well and there are very few decent jobs. It really depends on where you decide to move to in NC. Some places are expensive and some are cheap. I don't know about Charlotte.
