Hello all,
I have just installed a Gen I AVC-R (Apexi) boost controller (hey, I
got it cheap) and I must say I am very happy with it. It seems to
control boost well (I've had it up to 1.3bar and It held that well).
My annoyance is that the Mines computer that the car came with from Japan has the stock boost set at ~ 1.1-1.2 bar and thus I can't get the boost controller to set the low to 1.0 bar. Is there a way to get the ECU boost control out of the picture. i.e just let the AVC-R control the min and max boost ?.

cap off the bottom of the actuator (see item 3 in this pic):

Also follow the hose you took off the actuator and remove it from the other end, and cap that off as well (#2 in the pic).

By disconnecting the bottom of the actuator from the VSV like so, and capping it, you're removing the stock boost control that the AVC-R is currently "fighting" with.

Make sure to ziptie the cap at the bottom of the actuator tightly. If that cap flies off you get full boost. and boost is always pushing down on that cap to fly off.
