I will be ripping my NA apart and doing a full 2JZ-GTE 6speed build. I just bought a front clip. I am wanting to converte my car from RHD to LHD while I'm at it.

There's a few LHD dashboards I'm look at right now but seems like there is more needed.

Can anyone with some knowledge here let me know exactly what's needed? and is it worth it?

thanks, any help will be appreciated.

Ok this is what I found using the search button. I don't know if everything is needed, but it gives you an idea. Good luck.

Casper

- new steering rack

- light switches and windowsswitches

- firewall

- brake lines

- brake servo

- move ABS unit

- char coal canister and all parts in this system

- Steering column

- mats/carpets

- wirering harness

- new cooling hoses from top to heater matrix

- heater

- pedals

- all electrical details in the electrical board needs moving (I'm guessing fuses)

- gauge cluster

- interior panels

- center console

- seats

- door cards

As far as being worth it or not, it is going to be a lot of fucking around, but then so is an engine/transmission etc. swap. In the end though, it's still not going to have as high a resale value because of the conversion. I would be leaning towards not being worth it myself, but that's just my opinion. Obviously driving a RHD in a LHD country would be a pain.

If you're doing it to save money, I'd be leaning towards the unexpected costs exceeding what it would be to just buy what you wanted outright. Not to mention all the time involved with it off the road.

Not worth it, unless you get the car and front clip free or dirt cheap.

To save money find LHD front clip with all essential components, because you will need

1. brake booster with master cylinder, vacuum hose, all hard lines
2.steering rack and lines,steering column
3.most of HVAC system, i.e. all the stuff under the dash+HVAC control panel
4.complete dash with wiring harness, cluster, reinforcement bar ,all trim and console
5.master window/door lock switch as well as the passenger side window/lock switch with LHD trim and bezels for the door panels, (no need for new door panels)
6.if manual transmission, you'll need clutch master cylinder and lines
7.front chassis harness with fuse box .
8.firewall
9.charcoal canister and all of EVAP system(if you're going for stock)
10. mirrors
11.pedals
12.door wiring harness for both doors
13.carpet and floor mats.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, but it's something to think about
I'm going to tell you, if you're still set on doing this, find LHD front clip, even if it's wrecked,

dumb idea. in the US we drive on the left side of the car BTW.
Thanks for the news. I lived in this country for 22 years and I thought everyone drove RHD!

My RHD is plated in my state, and its really easy to drive with right streering. I don't get how people says its a pain or unsafe.

I guess I'll leave it, didn't think so much would need to be done. Or maybe If I find a nice roller I'll pick it up, don't plan to start my build till end of June or start of July.

Not worth it, plus right hand drive is rare in the United States so keep it and invest the extra money in mods! by the way, Canada is a left hand drive country also and I never had problems with RHD since I started driving them in 2008.

If it's so easy, why swap it at all? I have driven on the opposite side of the road to what I'm used to, and it's fine once you get used to it, but there is a period of adjustment. I also found shifting with my opposite hand difficult, as well as just subconsciously expecting to be on the other side of the road.

me too.

my biggest problem with it is that drivers in the slow lane can talk to me if my window is open.

but for real the only problem i ever have is extra time to view out the passanger side window/side window/rear window when merging onto the highway, etc.
because the b-pillar and passanger seat get in the way sometimes.

but if i extend the seat all the way back (with no passangers on board) then i can see fine because im 6'3 and my neck is able to bend like a normal human.
besides that i just ask my passanger if "any cars coming?"
and if they say yes i dont go. and if they say no, i dont trust them and keep looking anyway til i can see that its clear.

sure its a bit more dangerous than LHD.... but hell, probably not as dangerous as a 600rwhp supra on the street ;)

just merge onto the highway at 120mph thx to 600hp and no one will ever rear end you gauranteed.

Some of the things ppl mentioned in their lists are bogus. Like needing a new charcoal canister? No. Mirrors!? No.
And would you really need a new steering column? Would the rhd column not bolt up to a lhd rack?
I might still buy a rhd so that I can tear into it and build it. I can fabricate a new firewall. I would want a cage anyway so the interior would be all custom. It is better in most ways to just build it yourself and do it all custom then to try and buy it from the Toyota dealer. They charge so much money for parts.
And wiring wouldn't be an issue if you were running a standalone anyway.
If your intention is to buy a supra to build it into a race car then rhd is cheaper. You can buy a $40 000 lhd and put another $30 000 into it. Or you can buy one for $18 000 and put $34 000 into it. Buying a rhd is just better because you don't have to wait until you have that $40 000. You can own a Supra sooner and learn about it and build it sooner. I think people in the US are just jealous that we can get rhd cars when they are only 15 yrs old.

heh my buddy in Japan sent me pictures and information on this car asking if I wanted to buy it not that long ago... I passed on it, that would be so FLASHY driving around. Plus it had some custom body work which I'm not a fan of.
If I was you, I wouldn't deal with Tyee imports. My friend put a deposit down on a GTR32-R34 front end swap(it's the blue one on their website right now). He waited for it to get into the country, pass inspection, and all that jazz. Then they sold it to another buyer :S. What is the point of a deposit if your just going to sell it anyways?

The owner (Grant) came up with some excuse about one of his employees not knowing it was held with deposit, and selling it while he was on vacation. Personally I think that Grant got a higher offer then what my friend got it for in auction, and sold it. That is bad business practice in my books, and I certainly wont be recommending them to anyone.

umm tyeeimports didn't have the car when I first saw it.
It was for sale on public Japanese auctions. I had a chance to buy it before tyee bought it.
