The crank sensor is located on the bottom left corner of the oil pump attached with one 10mm bolt. If you jack the front end up and get underneath you will look more less where the tensioner unit is located and you will see the sensor next to that. Should be an easy job and take no more than 30min total if you have all the right tools and equipment. As for diagnosing, you can run a Digital volt meter and check for correct resistance between terminals which is 835-1400 ohms.
