I'm flying back up to Maryland this next week and wanted to open up the HKS SSQV for cleaning.

My general idea would be to undo all the allen bolts around the top cap (near the tuning 10mm bolt) then use gasoline or alcohol to clean the shaft.

What ways have you done it? Careful not to lose springs?

What should I be careful about?

Removing the top part by the adjustment screw is highly not advised...by me anyway. When you take that apart, you have the rubber flex piece that looks like a plunger and then the spring on the inside. I accidentally popped mine off when trying to clean up the rubber and it took me almost a day to get that POS back together. There are some really delicate parts to that thing. Way more than I ever thought there were. Opening up the other side can be just as dangerous too. If I could do it again, I wouldn't.
