Well? Did it? I've heard that the debris in the oiling system can be quite damaging to them. I'm just curious about a turbo's abillity to survive a really mild spun bearing...

No.

But the whole situation was a worst case scenario type deal...head and cams got chewed up along with every journal on the crank, turbo bearings etc.....

Take the turbo apart and check the bearings. Or just send it to PT and get it upgraded :D (assuming you're still runnin the ct).

I spun my #6 bearing and my turbo is still in excellent shape. And I plan on reusing it while I send off the turbo that's comming with the engine I'm buying to get upgraded.

I spun #6 as well and the turbo still works just fine. It probably depends on what type of oil filter that you have. If it traps the particles before it gets introduced back through the system, you should be fine.

cool guys. He says the turbos are still fine but I have ZERO turbo experience...I know how to check for shaft play and I know that it'll have to be able to spin freely but that's as in-depth as I get.

I started to get a LOUD squeak from my turbo shortly after my thrust bearing went out. Yeah, I think it was all of the metal inside of it.

how did u guys spun your bearings !?!?!!?
From running too low on oil, while decelerating strongly at high RPM, starving the oil pickup.

The turbo survived, but crapped out a few weeks later. It broke the shaft. I think the oil starvation that wiped out the bearing in the first place, also starved the turbo bearing with obviously grim consequences..

My 89t has two ( 2) Spung rod bearing, my turbo is in pretty darn good shape as far as no shaft play or anything like that, as far as spooling *shrugs* look at the sig and you will know why :p
