I just purchased a bare 7m block and head for 100
The block only has crank caps and oil squirters
Block has been bored and honed
The head has a brand new valve job
No cams or litter cups

Im thinking about sell them or doing a slight build
I would like to know if there are any differences between 7myers and 7mgte head and block
If they are different how can I tell what I bought?
Owner didn't know which motor they was
Thanks

The only difference between the blocks are the oil squirters as Jonahs pointed out. The heads are identical.

the cams are not identical the INTAKE CAM is different the exhaust cams are identical but the turbo intake cam has more lift not much more but more.
as for other differences.

Oil squiters as mentioned
Holes for turbo oil feed and oil return if you are not running a turbo u will need to block these off
depending on what the 7m came from the Oil dipstick tube is moved around

there other block differences depending on yrs but thats not really NA vs Turbo

That's why I said almost identical you nit picky bastard. Even told him where to look to see for himself. Also, if you try to buy one or the other its the same part number now. Get off your ego trip and quit trying to prove me wrong on everything.

No the transmission would not change the cam profile

as for bassjunkien5 you said the cams where identical they are not (and they make a difference) which is a false statement. I am not on a ego trip just trying to give accurate information. AND NO ONE mentioned the oil holes for the turbo and if you dont block those off your going to have a mess or a lost of engine due to oil pouring out of it. I dont think this is nit picking this is shit to keep your engine from blowing up. IF i am proving you wrong its only cause your posting wrong information or incomplete information.

the cams have different part numbers since u mentioned part numbers
NA intake - 13501 - 42020
turbo intake 13501 - 42010

NA lobe height 38.16mm 1.5024
turbo lobe height 38.35 1.5098

.0074 difference in lift and IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE

since i am trying to prove you wrong ill just go ahead and do that

as for the head then no there is no difference in it cept for the yrs as you stated and are correct.

Trans doesn't matter. Na and turbo had different intake lifts. Look in the faq, its very slight, maybe .001" difference. They are the same part number now. They intake ports depend on the casting number but you will never tell a difference. Basically, the heads are 100% identical. Cams, just go small aftermarket. You won't notice any changes until 500+ anyways.

Look again stinger, it says ALMOST identical meaning they are not but might as well be. If you think .001" makes a difference after 20+ years, plus a sloppy valve train anyways, then you have other things to worry about.

this is just me but i dont see the thickness of a human hair of extra lift going to make a whole lot of difference.
thats roughly how big 74 ten-thousandths of an inch is...

I called 5 toyota places just to double check before i posted to make sure the numbers had not merged 3 local 1 in cali and one in NY cause i know toyota merges part numbers all the time but they have not merged these. And my local places could get both didnt ask the other dealerships.

in my experience for the cam height difference seeming small in a car it makes a difference for power

just to be an asshole
Called Rivergate Toyota in Madison TN
2 different part numbers
na intake cam is $530
turbo intake cam is $657

Beaman Toyota downtown Nashville TN
NA intake cam though they wanted the 42030 part number not the 42020 part number 657$
Turbo intake cam 657$
both intake cams ie NA cam Turbo cam can be orded from Toyota and are different cams from Toyota
