Do the 98 tail lights make the rear look better?

I am just going to order the 98 tail lights and was wondering if they make much of a difference compared to the older 93-97 lights?

I know on my red supra they sure did. Gave it a much more up to date look. I'm debating whether i want to get these or not, i know a guy that has a set he'll sell me cheap. But i kinda like the black of the 94 lights on the silver. But i loved how it looked on the quicksilver supra i saw and one other silver dawg...so i'm undecided. When/IF u install them, send or post pics so i can see how it is. :)

Thanks,
John

I am probably one of the few people that feel the earlier model tail lights look better. I prefer the later headlights and actually think the style of the early tail lights match the late model headlights very well. Eventually I will switch to early model tail lights on my car.

Damnit Jim, you beat me to it. Anyways steve, if you want i'm willing to trade with you as well. If your car isnt your daily driver maybe you could send me the lights, when i get them, i'll switch them and send mine to you. :)

Actually Jim and I are going to swap. We just haven't found time to remove his taillights and harness and swap with mine. I believe there maybe a relay we want to swap too.

Fine, its not like i really wanted them anyways!!! :D ;) Ya, and you 2 are in NC, i'm guessing pretty close so it'd be easier. Ah well, someone post up pics tho. So i can give this guy his 75 or 100 bucks and have these on my car. :)

Hey guys...I always here of the earlier model supras switching headlights and the tailights to the '98 style....Can someone please post some pics of the Tailights and the headlights ? I want to see the difference of the two......I think I remember the '98 tailights have the silver backing correct ?!? and the ealier supras are black, what else?

I honestly hate the pre-97 tails. They look outdated and dont flow with the lines of the car IMHO (the way each light has its own circle comming out, just odd). 97+ taillights are much more modern and flow with the supras lines. Definetly the best.

Believe it or not guys I like the older tail light more. I especially like the way they look sideways. You can see the mirrory look between the lights, which is a MKIV Supra trademark that every car and taillight manufacture is trying to sell. You can't see what I'm talking about with those new 98 taillights because of the black housing wrapped around the taillights. Now 98 headlights is a whole other story...

I like old lights too. May be not the tail lights like Jack B said...
No, I'm not going to trade mine. :D Doesn't make any sense to go backward... But, I won't put 97-98 on older models either. I'll get those glass head lights, they look awesome. I hate my 97 head lights, it makes my car look like 3000gt in front.

Here's some pics of my car with the 98 style headlights. Much nicer IMO..and it gives the front end a much more updated look.

Here's 2 pics..if you want better ones i can take pics to show the lights. Also, i now have the amber blinkers out and nice 98 style blinkers in to. Looks alot better also.

I also like my 94 tailights and wouldn't think
about the 98's.

IMO the 98's look cheaply (<---is this a word? :()
made. Don't ricers do similar things to their taillight with
vinyle sticker and cut out holes?:( ...just a thought when
looking at the pic from Carl Stephens.

I don't know if any of you have pulled out your tail lights (pre 97) and compared them to the 98s, but the 98s are made to a degree that just the look and feel of quality is shown, the pre 97s feel cheap compared to the later model. The actual lense on the light is much nicer imo. At night is when the 98s really shine, they look 200% better.

The install was also very easy.
