The hinges on my drivers side door have some play in them, which makes it difficult to close the door.

Are these hinges rebuildable? Many cars you can just get a new bushing kit for the hinges, pop those in and you are good for another 15 years. Some, on the other hand, you just have to buck up and buy new hinges.

Any advice on this?

Almost every other member on this board has a spare parts car, the hasstle you'll go through rebuilding the hinges is simply not worth it. You'll be able to get some used ones off of a member on here for literally a couple of bucks.

Yeah it's not worth "rebuilding" somthing as small as a door hinge, there are tons of part cars on this forum and I am sure sombody hasn't parted out that or you could try and go to the local wrecking yard and look for a mkiii.

Acctallly you dont need anything but a wrnch anda screw driver.

Take off your drive side fender, and open the door, loosen dooor bolt and jack the door up till its about an inch higher then ther door jam. tighten your bolts, and lethe jack down, even if you replace it you will have tore align. just realign it and save urself some cash.

FYI Do not try to do it without taking of the fender.. it will take a 30 minute job and make it last 4 hours! :)
