To cut immediately to the chase: does a tight door panel affect the window from going up or down properly?

Here's the background info:

Bought a new door panel to replace my old one. I have a Viper installed, and the 529T window module attached to the door. I trimmed some of the foam from the door panel, but it still makes a very tight fit. When I put the panel on and tried the window, it will go down all the way, but going up it pauses and then stops maybe a few millimeters short of the top. If I open the door, I can make the window go up all the way. I thought it might be the tight door panel, so I put the original panel back on (the Viper installers ripped out all the foam on this one) and then tried the window again. The window went up a little further, but still stopped short. Again, I could make it go up if I opened the door.

So, am I looking at replacing the window motor?

Thanks for all advice

I don't think is the window motor. The motor either works or doesn't. You most likely have a problem with the window channel being misaligned causing all these problems. I'd loosen the channel a little bit and then try move the window again... also check and make sure there aren't any kinds in the rubber sleeves inside the channels.

Door panel should have no affect on how the glass moves, check the chanel as Kruso said, spray some silicone lubricant there to help the glass slide with less resistance

Thanks for the tip benzo, but I just resealed the moisture barrier. The factory adhesive was coming off in certain spots.

It looks like I might have to shell out $$$ to have the dealership take a look at it...

Did anyone mess with the window track alignment?

I don't think it's a bad reg. it was working just fine before I replaced the actuator. It's the viper auto window switch stop making it stop. My windows roll up auto when you lock the car. can also roll then down with keyfob. but there is a safety for not getting anything stuck in it. Was curious as to what the original poster did.
