what does this button on the drivers seat circled in the pic do?

and this button on my seat or the plastic maroon piece is broken off. any way to fix it? or still use it?
just a black piece is sticking out....

I think that button, if i'm not mistaken is the recline button for the seatback... atleast thats how my 89 is, can you recline the seat right now?

yea, thats the recliner button, you could just get another button from a parts car, people dont usualy take that piece
