It would be a good thing. Anything that would get our cars' weight down to around 3000lb or less would be nice. Although you would be smart to get a full roll-cage with side impact protection before you put these on and they will probably cost around $1,000-$1,200 per side so only the high-$ MkIII owners would be able to afford them (not me).

CF doors = death.

CF hood = death.

CF fenders = death.

The weight you save lets you go faster but then you have no protection... This reminds me of something.. Oh yeah a CIVIC.

true but on a car that will very rarely see the street(mine) and a good roll cage... cf is safe... lol

Just like with a targa top off... having CF doors may make you notice some body flex... and most likely isn't practical...If the door jams don't support well enough... correct me if I'm wrong.

Now for a good idea of weight, even though it looks like shit... is doing what lam did to the rear hatch... get rid of some glass,

GLASS IS HEAVY AS SHIT!!

Weight reduction for glass = LEXAN. Looks like glass. Lexan is stronger. Lexan is lighter and same thickness and requires less thickness for same strength. Lexan owns.

However, lexan is not street legal and it will not shatter. But, it does look a lot like glass if you keep it clean and scratchless, so a cop may never notice.

Glass is super heavy.

The triangle/rear window would be (mainly rear) a good "lexan" idea, I wouldn't trust it for the windshield (espeically if a cop finds out) Then we could finally get a good tint job with out having to worry about those little bubble things around the edge of the windows.

the gelcoat & resin that gives the hood its shape would snap and the whole hoodd would fold in half...CF is not that strong by itself...its very stiff, but not that strong. its used as racecar shells because it will shatter on impact (and because its very light). you could probably punch a crack in CF (depending on thickness)
