I've practically made a career out of the EGT thing. Trust me. You can not compare EGTs from car to car and automatically assume that they mean anything whatsoever.

I wouldn't run more than 1325F with the probe at the top of the down pipe. This would be with a run to the top of 4th gear. It will be lower with a run to the top of 3rd.
