I am debating whether to go mechanical or electric for the oil pressure. I don't like the idea of oil coming into the cabin and taking the chance of a burst with mechanical. I know they are more accurate. However, I hate the face on the electrical...they number increments are weird! Any advice? Anyone have a mechanical line ever break and oil go all over in the cabin?

it depends on where you mount it. if its anywhere near you id rather go electrical. if you get the right kind of line for the mech gauge you shouldnt have any problems, but the risk is still there.
what you could do is get the mechanical gauge you want then get an isolator. that way there wont be any fluids coming into the cabin. it does add to the expense tho, but not really any more expensive than what an elect gauge costs.
i personally have never had one burst inside the cabin but i have seen it happen.

good luck

Im running the electrical oil pressure guage, i agree that the layout of the increments is weird and i dont like how its not a full circle sweep for the needle but thats ok, its a small sacrifice the way i see it to not have to run an oil line into the vehicle. Chances are very slim that you will have a problem as long as the line is routed correctly. But the chances are zero with an electrical guage.

i have a mechanical, i like cuz its more accurate(no faulty sendors), just make sure you use the right line(autometer stainless steel line-the one used for nitrous)the cons-$65 for the line.

I'd rather not risk the "WWII fighter pilot" deal with 230f oil squirting you in the face while your trying to drive.

Worst case you have a huge fire.
Best case, you have 2and degree burns on your face and body, and an interior covered in oil spray.

Just not worth it IMHO.

Get a better electrical gauge with peak and hold etc. Well worth the money.

I don't see any problems with mechanical as long as you follow the recommendations of the manufacturer. I don't think They would market an unsafe product. I have an autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge and i ran a copper line in a vinyl tube through the firewall so if a leak does happen in the line it will stay in the tube. I have only had it hooked up for a couple months, so I guess my opinion is a bit premature. How many people have actually had leaks? And what is an isolator?
