Yeah so i was wondering if there are any upgrades that can be done to the turbo diesel engine. wheter its an adjustment or a part, if it can be done i want to know how, where, and what i need to do. i figured i would come to the off topic and make this thread, cuz it seems that we have subject matter experts on everything in this section. i do think its a GM motor and a GARRET hair dryer but other parts that exist, i am not sure of.

so any help would be greatly appriciated

Let me guess... Army?

Why would an 11B like yourself be allowed to work on Up-Armored Humvees?

I can see it now:

"Quick, how do I upgrade the engines on my Space Shuttle? They're only generating 1.8 MN of thrust each!"

Why would you want to modify that motor? It's built for reliability not speed. Do you really want to fuck with something to have it fail on you when you're on a patrol? Planning on racing some camels or what?

If he is, I feel sorry for the poor sap who has to drive his truck outside the wire.

all i was asking for was a simple upgrade, if any, this is my fault due to me not saying as far as air intake or modifying the exhaust.
and far as my soldiers, they're on board with me. and the motor pool is will ing to work with me since the head of the MP is married to my cousin and does not mind what i do to the damn truck. we go out with 3 trucks most of the time, sometimes 4, and there is nothing like doing a PSD at about 65mph. but it would also be noce to have that truck get out of its own way from a dead stop. and btw, that engine is not reliable at all. i dont know what trucks you're running, but the engine is always having problems.

My point is that such gains are, at best, hardly noticeable. They are definitely not worth tinkering with in a war zone. Do you honestly know the ramifications that such modifications will have on a turbo-diesel in such an unforgiving climate?

Also, most people would suggest modifying vehicles that are in good shape. If your 'engine is always having problems,' I would be worrying about that and not how to squeeze a few extra hp out of a 5-6 ton vehicle.
Seriously, I learned the hard way that modifying an unreliable engine is not the smartest thing to do... stupid MKIII's :(

OK..

If it is a 1996 - 2003 Turbo Diesel (2004 has a caterpillar computer unupgradeable)
You can do following:
Heath Diesel Max E Tork Computer
HD injectors
HD manual wastegate controller
HD fuel pump

All that is approximately 100 hp gain at the flywheel, obviously by the time it gets to the ground with H1's awd and gearing it's a lot less than that, but I have definetely felt the difference. Friend cruises his H1 at 70+ mph NC to GA all the time, pulling a car trailer + car. I sell this stuff pretty much daily, PM me if you are interested, other reliability upgrades are available as well.

Most H1 upgrades are done not for "performance" but to actually get them to drive faster than a horse, off roading or highway.
