I went to the Memphis Motorsports Park and entered the autox put on by the SCCA and had a blast. The EVOs took first in class and first overall.

I put together a short vid with some of the RWD cars going off the track and the EVOs making a couple of passes

a autox event used a track? looks like that S-turn declined therefore the RWD over cooked the turn and lost grip.

yep, at the end of the 1/4 mile track it becomes a road coarse which we setup cones to make it more technical, there's slaloms, boxes and gates. After that section in the video you end up in a large parking lot with several 90* and a 180* turns

Nice cars, they're really scootin' through the corners. We just had a autox event here in California that was sponsored by the Corvette club. The Evo's didn't really do so hot, they seemed to be understeering a lot. Ironically, the fastest car of the day was a mildly modified RX-7 and right behind him was a MR2. I guess some courses work better with different cars. That, and they were damn good drivers.

yeah it's been my experience that the driver matters much more than the car, but it does help to start with a decent platform. There was a RX-8 and a R32 that did really well, those guys hold the 3 and 4 position in the nationals.
