hey guys i just had this idea and not sure if it has come up be4. well i was thinking what if i got one of those electronic cutout where i can open it up from the cockpit whenever i want so this way for daily driving i can keep my silencer on my exhaust on for the quietness. then when the time comes just flip a switch or something and open that baby up. will that work or am i just wasting my time? only reason i was thinking of this was trying to see if i can quiet the exhaust sound a little around my neighbor. thanx in advance fr any replies ...if any. :D

i been thinking about the same thing. i just need to figure out where to mount the elect cutout and the exit pipe. i want this done with a stock muffler set up though. i'm tired of the ricey noises of aftermarket exhaust systems. this could be better than having a 4" system...
My buddy with a auto BPU put on a cutout and instantly gained 2-3mph in the 1/4 on his tests. this is a BPU car too. I think im going to have a custom 4" one made and test it out. It has to give some more HP.
i saw one awhile back on some website that sells them for american muscle cars but i don't see why it wouldn't be able to make it fit our pipes. if some1 can just tell me that its ok to run that with my current exhaust with a silencer then i might just go ahead and give it a try. magine that the best of both world.....a moderate sounding level exhaust and witha smple touch of a switch have a monster....:bigthumb:

it will work fine. It will be LOUD as hell, but should work. My buddies is not electric so he just goes under and losens the eye bolts and its off.
here is the website http://www.dougsheaders.com/news.cfm

the biggest they have would be a 3 1/2.....wonder what my blitz downpipe is right now?

also when u say loud as hell .... how much louder than my VS titanium...cuz that VS is loud as hell right now.

Most aftermarket DP's are 3" thats what you have.
hmmm....not bad i gain an extra 1/2 in.
Jic Majic sells one. As a matter of fact i was about to order one my self.
If you are referring to how loud just running a downpipe and a turn-down, it will be extremely loud.... along the lines of being annoyyingly loud even if you are at a low rpm cruising IMO. Turn-downs are commonly only used at the track as they are ridiculously loud, not to mention exhaust gases will be vented under your car then, as opposed to away from your car.

It doesn't fit the US spec w/o modification. You need to cut off and install the US spec flange, and it has no O2 sensor bung.

Several guys around SoCal have run electronic cut-outs.
These electronic cut-outs are all over the place and they have been for a long while. I intend to install one. It is a good idea for any car with forced induction. Do it.
wonder which of the socal guys have this setup. would love to hear how it sounds like in person.

that qtec ones looks pretty good.........but they don't seem to have application for our car so would we have to modify ours or something?

Funny I was thinking about this recently and remember something like out of an old JC Whitney catalogue that I thought use some cable set up, but yeah that would be good to have.

to get an idea of how it will sound, just unbolt your catback from your downpipe and slide it so the downpipe wont direct any exhaust gas into the catback... and thats going to be what its going to sound like. i have a friend with a DSM that used to run open downpipe, then he put his stock exhaust back on, and got a cutout... with the cutout open it sounds identical to when he ran open downpipe.
I've run the electronic one on my car for a few years now. I believe that I was the first to put this sucker on the Supra. I'm in Socal as well.
