I have a 91 turbo. Pulled the head off because had all the BHG symptoms: muddy coolant, emptying the over flow bottle, excessive steam from exhaust. OEM head gasket was blown at coolant ports on #5 and #6 on exhaust side. Reinstalled Factory hg with ARP bolts @72ft-lb. Still have exhaust gases in coolant and muddy coolant. Any suggestions?

how was the head/block prepped? You could well have a BHG still if it wasn't prepped, or not prepped right...

Did you check for flatness? If your head is warped you may have another BHG....or if you over torque the stock head gasket that could cause problems.

Aye, warped or cracked. My last BHG job, I had to scrap the head because it was cracked. I myself didn't even notice it. It was the machine shop that pointed it out.
