I was just wondering If anyone knows of a really good custom exhaust shop in the lower mainland in B.C. ? The other question i have which i have searched and nothing really answers my question exactly. I am having a hard time choosing between going with stainless steel catback or alumminized steel cat back exhaust. Which would be more benificial to go with. Considering Aluminized steel is cheaper but does not last very long before rusting. Or is there a method out there to make Aluminized steel last as long as Stainless steel Piping? I will be going with a Borla Stainless steel muffler which has a 3inch inlet and dual 2.5 inch outlets which are pretty much staight through. the exhaust will be 3 inch as well. Any ideas of shops in this area and opinions on the best material to go with will be greatly appreciated

Well, like you know already, aluminized steel will eventually rust. You can have it recoated with something that will be close to the life of a bare stainless steel. If I were you, I'd go with stainless steel, leave it bare and polished, and not worry about it rusting or anything. I don't know where exactly you are in BC, but L and R racing in Port Coquitlam is a very good custom shop. They do very good welding and all that.

B.C.....Hmmm....I've seen it on the map. It's next to that yellow country. Anyway, I went with stainless because it won't rust. But your Supra doesn't care as long as it's straight through Ditch the cat while you're under there.

Are you just looking for a cat back or a downpipe too?. Stainless steel is nice but very expensive, I think L&R makes custom 3" systems for about $1000-1500. My friend got a system made for his Talon. Accurate in Langely does good work from what I have heard. I dont think SS is really that necisarry, unless you plan on having your car for 10+ years. You could always get your aluminized system ceramic coated, and it should last as long as SS. I have had a 3" system on my car that I built, for about 3 years, I drive my car every day, it is holding up fine, a little surface rust at the welds but thats it, you could just spray some quality high heat paint over the welds and you are good to go.

i built my own 3" exhaust, i painted the whole thing with high temp "bbq" black paint. about a year, holding up just fine in victoria driving year-round. only rusted a bit where i scrapped it hehe

yeah... thats the cheap way of making it last.. and it works too!

I did my whole 3" exhaust by myself for $85 worth of tubing. It is Aluminized steel, but hey, its cheap!
Learn how to mig weld, and be handy with a chop saw or make friends at the local muffler shop... grab yourself a free afternoon, some brews, some buds, a couple of jack stands, and VIOLA! Brand new loud as hell, no cats exhaust.

I currently have an RT downpipe, RT highflow cat (I have to pass emissions) and shitty 2.5 inch catback with a totally open muffler (you can look straight through it). Has anyone tried running a straight pipe with no muffler? I can't imagine that this muffler does much for sound.

Can you pass emmissions with a system with a 3" DP & #" High flow cat???

I'm not shooting for that big a boost in power, so I was also wondering if emissions could be passed in Ontario with a complete 3" cat back system???

Stainless steel holds in heat a whole lot better than mild steel. If you want the best performance from your exhaust keep it stainless. The higher velocity in the exhaust system will reduce back pressure. Plus it lasts longer. Getting it HPC coated will work well too, but it will proably cost as much as stainless by the time you are done.

I have a straight pipe all the way back from the turbo, 3".
Sounds like a tractor at low rpms and a race car at high rpms.
