For those who have went NA auto- 6 speed.

Ok, well I have found an awesome write up on how to convert it and everything, but in the write up, the guy was going from a TT auto-6speed instead of NA auto-6speed, so this has still left me with a couple of questions.

1. What ecu do I need to use? I have a 97 NA, and found a 97 TT 6 speed ecu that I can buy, but it seems like I read somewhere that I will have to change harnesses to use a TT ecu in a NA. Is this true, or will it plug right in fine?

2. How well would the car run still being NA, but using the TT ecu? Would all the fuel maps and timing be off, or would it run ok? I plan on going NA-T of course, but it would be a little while down the road.

3. If my car's rearend has an LSD already, could I just get the 3.13 Ring and Pinion gears from a TT-6-speed and basically have the same thing as the 6 speed rear-end? (Reason I ask is because I would rather do this b/c it would save me a ton of dough, I could get rid of the 4.27 gearing, and I wouldn't have to get another axle.)

Well, thats pretty much all I can think of right now, I appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks.

for question 1, im not exactly sure of this , but i belive that both of the harnesses are the same, the only thing different between all the harnesses is that the tt cars have a couple of more wires feeding into it that the NA's dont have.

2. im not sure about.

but for 3) you cant just get the ring and pinion b/c they are different size and wont fit into your Diff pumpkin, but what you can do (if indeed you do have na LSD) is get the gs400 (i belive thats the right model) diff, which is an Open diff with very similar gearing as the TT 6spd's, and you could just swap the LSD into that pumpkin

quick question, how do you know its an lsd? if yo uspin one tire, shouldnt they spin both ways? is that how you can tell if its an lsd? b/c i swear to god that my car has an lsd, but spins tires differnt ways when jacked up..... i spin both tires on flat or uneven ground, can spin donuts with easy.... i ahve to have an LSD.... is there any other wway of telling?

1. Do not use 6spd ecu with NA set up. The 6spdtTT ecu is for GTE which by the way the ecu is based off the egine rather than the transmission. Yes USDM harnesses are interchangable no problem.

2. Like i said before 6spd TT :nono: . Im currently running Ravan's 5spd ecu and works fine. Although, i must warn you about Cali spec ecu's and non Cali spec. Sonny12 warned me about his set-up (california car) without Cali spec ecu and his shit was smoking like crazy. I had no problem at all with the V160/5spd ecu set up.

3. Ive never heard of that solution with the NA-Auto differential, but i would not suggest it. I also dont think you have to get rid of the axle. On my setup i noticed that the replacement axle(the left one) was identical to the one already installed. Unless i already had 6spd rear end i didnt see much difference what so ever. I strongly recommend 6spd differential but if you want to low ball fr a while then go with Ravan's set up for now.
yeah they say something about a delay but I personally have never seen one yet because I have not done my swap yet
1. Keep the NA ecu
2. See above
3. The 6spd rear diff has a different housing than the TT auto/NA auto/NA 5spd. It is wider. If $$$ is problem I would use the NA rear for now, w/ a modified driveshaft, and save for the 6spd rear diff/axles/driveshaft.
Good luck.
