Owner's selling it for $2,500, the interior and exterior are practically spotless. Has 150k miles on it, non-turbo.

Said it needed some engine work, when I asked him what it needed he said it needed a rod bearing.

My question is, how much more is it going to cost to get that replaced? I know that I'm probably going to have to get more than the bearing replaced (crank etc.), so I just want to know if it's even worth picking up for this low of a price since I might get screwed over on fixing it or even getting the engine rebuilt.

Any help?

@Kyu

welcome to SF!

I have never seen a 7m crank get so messed up that it required a replacement. A polish or machine work perhaps but a full on replacement? Man maybe at some numbers never seen on the 7m (2000+ HP).

The price is ok but the real question is;

how mechanically inclined are you?

Amazing as it may sound, the Toyota Engines (regardless of alphabet soup for lettering) all have pretty damn tight clearances when not observed, the newly built engine goes up in literally smoke.

Also if this is will be your only car, pass on it.
