I'm tired of speaking to slumdogs in customer service! I recently purchased a dell laptop and the screen shitted on me on day 3 of having it! I returned it back and dell received it on thursday! NOW I STILL have yet to have any penny credited to my account. I just spoke waited hours on hold to speak to someone and it was another slumdog! And all he told me was that their standard waiting period for returned items, regardless if it is a lemon, 8-10 business days!!! I received this hellsent item on 2/11 and have NOTHING to show for it! DAMN, has this even been a lesson for me to buy NOTHING but apple and/or from local retailers...THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT! It just urks me cause I have NOTHING to show for the 1100 bucks I spent on the damn thing, let alone the fact that I wait on eternal hold just to speak to someone that just learned english and can't understand a word I am saying!!!

I bought a dell computer in 2004 for around 1,050... Just wanted something to play games on and get online with a nice printer/scanner combo/// Since then I haven't used the printer in 3 years... Reformatted 2-3 times for having like 30 gigs of porn... haha... And had 28% interest on a 30.00 payment every month... Their late fees are somewhere around 35.00. And I just paid the computer off this year for around 1,100... I called to see if they would reduce my rate they said sure 3%! I WAS LIKE SWEET DOWN TO 3%!! She said no sir 3% lower to 25%... 4 years later my account balance increased... Lesson learned on financing though! I like their computer I really do! But their financing is TERRIABLE! But there in it to make money.

So you're mad at the service rep for a policy they have no control over? I can understand the language barrier bud - next time simply ask for your case to be escalated to a native English speaker.

bingo, I had issues with Citi on a billing charge that took several phone calls to figure out and each time I didn't mess around I asked for an english speaker and they gave me one right away

x2

They have their standard rules. If you're a pissed off customer that is frustrated and asking for special treatment, then ask an American.

Anyone want to do the math and let him know how much that "$1050" computer actually cost? Fuckin A, I can't believe people need that much instant gratification. Reminds me of this one idiot I knew who financed a Ford Probe GT at 30%.

I was what 21? 22? making just over minimum wage and a computer wasn't my top priority I needed to build credit and was just starting to live on my own and needed a small payment.I didn't really care on average something like $6 a payment went towards the balance, say what you want I know I ended up paying somewhere over $2000 for it... oh well big deal its over and done with. Next time I save for a lap top and pay cash thats all...

You should be more upset that more than likely your job will also be outsourced.

Please tell me that Probe was financed brand new or slightly used. I know this idiot who is still making payments on his 1991 celica. People are so fucking dumb.

People finance MKIVs that are 15 years old, big deal.

As far as Dell, stay away from them, my desktop is a dell and it sucks.

Your first mistake was calling them. NEVER call them. Go to their website and use the chat feature. It sends a log of the conversation to your email address so there is some ACCOUNTABILITY which is completely lacking from Dell in general. Plus the people you chat with are Americans. I do IT work at a large school and I use their chat feature daily. And once you find a few good folks you can email them for parts. Im about to complete my dell certification so i can skip the whole tech support call in nonsense all together.

If you think Dell is bad...try using HP.

Honestly i use a ton of dell products. I think they work very well for me, but I fuking hate talking to them on the phone.
Now granted if I ever need to call its something major and I ask for a next level right away so I dont need to deal with the BS. but its still a fucking uphill battle. I tell them right off the bat, i am an IT person, I did this that and that, Im stuck and looking for advice from a higher level tech.

I am at the point now though I dont call anyone anymore. if I get stuck, I google the hell out of it and tap my resources in the field as much as I can.
I refuse to call people in India!!!!

that is what I thought this thread was going to be about.

Other lesson - don't buy the cheap Dell's, they outsourced the inspiron/home user level of support to India a while back, I buy the Latitude line because as well as the warranty support, they kept the support line in USA/native english countries - I've only ever dealt with native english speakers whenever i've rung them.

Lenovo still uses American branches. I can say that HP is a pain SOMETIMES but for the most part it's pretty easy. Call still takes about 45 minutes but it always ends up with them overnighting me a box and I send it in when hardware fails.

The thing about HP though.....EVERY FUCKING THING is on backorder. You call for a part and they tell you it's on backorder. They are replacing your computer.....yup it's on backorder. But I usually wait around 2 weeks then start bitching and 90% of the time they just send me an upgraded unit.

This one time I called ALOT because the NEW unit ws taking to long so I agreed to get a refurb. And they didnt cancel thier original order cause I got 2. A new and a refurb. It was a 2710P tablet too so that was cool. Wrote that shit off of inventory and kept it for myself. Free 1200 laptop.

Toshiba FTW :)

3 laptops and no problems.

1 Dell laptop crapped out.

1 Fujitsu laptop crapped out.

So far Toshiba is waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the competition IMO in terms of reliability and value.
