I was bored and did the calculations today.. if you want to check them out they are at http://www.boom.net/~mike/MKIVGearing.htm

The resulting rpm after shifts are the most interesting.. after i dyno my car before/after some parts are installed ill plot the hp numbers with the shift points to see were (assuming everything else is equal) the optimal shifting points are at each redline, 6500-7000-7500-8000.

I mainly did it for road racing, since im looking into having a closer ratio gear set made for the getrag v160.. but drag racers may find it usefull too. :)
