So i’ve taken headlights and tail lights before but these the mk4 tail lights are freakin hard to take apart! Headlights are a breeze compared to these tails. It holds so much tighter than anything i’ve taken apart.

so trick is in baking time and temp. after doing this a couple times i found baking these for 260 degrees for 12 minutes atop a baking tray will get you the best best softness to the silicone to pry them apart. I had to bake twice. first to pry the tabs off the bottom then second time to pull them apart.

I’ve always liked the first gen lights because it had the depth of the lights but i liked how the gen 2 had the silver modern look. So i decided to paint the trim on the gen 1 lights here. I really like how they turned out. :)

What do you guys think of the 2 versions?

These are my beaters so they had white paint overspray on the top portion.

It was temp. plastic Aluminum color paint. don’t use gray or charcoal it will look black and no change to the trim.

They appear to be darker in this photo, than the images earlier in the thread, but that may just be the light.

Are you happy with them? That is what matters most :)
