well i would say yes, but i can tell you that not ever cop car has an automatic plate reader camera equipped, and some officers follow close enough to get a good look at a plate while running it.That's something my mom would do......
I'm sure the Civic driver saw that cop and slowed down but didn't think to change lanes. And I'm sure the cop broke two laws in that video. Following too close and speeding. Too often I see CT state cops do this. "I'm a cop and I need to get home for dinner so I'll go 90 in the left lane and bulldoze everyone out of my way"
He shouldn't need to "bulldoze" any one out of the way as everyone should be keeping left unless they are overtaking. That's something my mom would do......

I'd say the cop was speeding right after he turned off the lights. But that's just a guess, just like MAYBE he was running the Civic's plates while he was tailgating him.how was the cop speeding??? how do you know the speed limit wasn't being bogged down because every single car was pacing the cop car who was following the slow car?
slow car going slower than speed limit. cop following at that speed, the rest of the cars not passing.... i see that crap a lot lol.
no laws broken, cop should be awarded for hilarity and duty
You have to keep right unless you are passing in the states. But in situations where traffic is moderate to heavy, there will be traffic occupying all lanes. In those situations I rarely see a cop follow the flow of traffic. Often I see them tailgate someone really close until they get out of the way and repeat to the next car that's in the way until the're through the traffic and then accelerate to 90 mph all while never leaving the left lane. Now I'm not sure if that's what this cop was doing because you only see a small clip of what was going on, but it has all the symptoms. This is from my experience driving in CT. I'm not saying all cops do this.He shouldn't need to "bulldoze" any one out of the way as everyone should be keeping left unless they are overtaking.
What are the laws on lane discipline In the States? Does it vary from state to state? From what i have seen on videos and what my friends and family have told me it seems to be a bit of a free for all like the motorways in Australia where i grew up. It looks to me in that video if all the drivers where keeping left unless overtaking the two outermost lanes would be free.
