I would highly recommend a search. The glass headlights are more practical but in my opinion, do not look nowhere as nice as the 97/98 lights. It's your call just keep in mind that your headlights are worth almost twice as much as your friends ;)
No way. the glass headlights are a big step up from the 93-96 headlights, but the 97-98 headlights are the nicest. The 98's give the car a super clean look and really enhance the overall appeal.

Oh, and if you do decide to trade, make sure you get his headlights + cash. A set of glass ones is less than $400. A set of 98's is $700. If both are in equal condition, I would say his lights +$200.

I still wouldn't do the trade though.
i got some pics at home of my 97/98 style headlights on my black supra. also got some pics of the glass euro spec ones on a black supra ill post soon as i get home...

SofaKingFast-wow those look really awesome. How much did it cost to do that?

Carlo
There's nothing more disgusting than trashy looking, old, yellow, dingy, f*cked up plastic lenses......regardless if it's painted inside or not.

Get the glass.....that way, in the future you won't be stuck with lights and have to say: "yeah, I have '97 lights, but damn the lenses look like f*ckin :barf: "

By the way, I may even do what SofaKingFast did to his ;)
I wouldn't trade........aiming them is kind of a PITA, but if you got a Sunday afternoon to kill go for it :)

So, having yellow plastic lights is better than spending a little time on aiming? :p

And if yall's 97-98 lights aren't yellow and ASSSS looking yet, don't worry........it won't be much longer :D

And forget about polishing the plastic, because that only makes decent lenses look a little better......it's a waste of time on really bad ones. And beyond that, you'll still have the scratches showing in the plastic when the headlights are on at night
Have you guys checked your plastic lenses at night lately with the lights on????

I've had the plastic ones on my 94...........I've polished them................I've bought glass :D :D
Im sorry to bring this back up. I feel the main reason to have the glass headlight is because they're adjustable. I have yet to find a person that will e-mail me back when it comes to the glass headlights adjuster. That one little mod on mkiv is helpful, but Id rather get someone to make it for me. SOMEONE please direct me to the person they got their little switch from. Im not a genius when it comes to wiring, so if someone would be so kind as to make one for me i would really appreciate it. Of course money is involved. PM me for more details on this. Thanks!!!
BTW I would have gotten the 98 headlights, but i have a white car. Now white car and black headlights housing. Hmm..lemme think about it. I'd rather have the nice shiny glass headlights thank you very much.

Your avatar kicks major ass! :D
Is there a way I can use it?........at least on another board??????

Im avatar dumb (plus I havent tried to figure it out since a while back :D )......but I can turn you on to a friend who made his own wiring for that aiming switch - maybe he can give you some good info ;) ;) ;)

Baltic: It only cost me about $5 for the spray can of flat black, and maybe a $1 for the black silicon. I'm not sure if you can pay someone to do it, but honestly its not that bad. The hardest part is taking the lens off but from there its easy. I actually found it easier to take the lens off on the euro's because you didn't have to worry about the lens melting in the oven.
SofaKingFast-did you have to sand out the chrome on the housings before you sprayed the lights?

Carlo
baltic: I didn't, but i'm sure if you did it wouldn't hurt. I just cleaned the chrome area to remove the dust and dirt and sprayed it on. They've been on the car for at least 2 or 3 months now and haven't had any problems with the paint flaking off or anything.
I painted my plasitc headlights 2 years ago. You don't have to sand, however, I would recommend that you tape up the chrome bezels around the driving light and fog lights.
