I'd go if i was old enough for B<W club, but i'm going to VIR over memorial weekend w/ NASA. Love to see some other supras show up.
Is the BMW event full course or just North/South?
It's just the North course. I used to only want to run the full course, I have now run the full course and thought the North course would be fun. Basically the North course is as long as most of the tracks around at 2.26 miles it's longer than Roebling 2.02 miles and CMP 2.235 miles. The full course is actually pretty dangerous. I don't mind the high speeds, at Roebling I was hitting over 150mph at the end of the front straight. On the full course at VIR I was going over 130mph through the climbing esses in a street car with no cage or harnesses. This doesn't mean I won't do the full course again, :) but I am not that disappointed with the North course. I will still be hitting over 140mph on the front straight, so I will get my high speed fix. :D

I was curious because I haven't run the full course yet, just the North. You're right about the north course being great anyway, much better than Summit Point. I might sign up for this one
Sign up. It would be great to have a Supra, 300ZX, and RX7 TT (a friend is bringing his T78 RX7 provided we actually get it running in time) at the track. Us Japanese cars need to stick together at these BMW events. :)

You talked me into it. Of course, I'm driving a lightly modded ZTT so I think you guys will have to do most of the talking for the japanese cars. Now I just need to install the coilovers/shocks and Howe radiator before then. Looks like I'll be pretty busy the next few weeks.

Later,
Scott
I look forward to seeing you there.

I've never gone roadracing before but i want to try it at least once. I don't think i could get into it heavy now cuz i don't have the money to replace broken parts.... but what do u think about this track for a beginner? Can i go if i'm under 18?
This track isn't as safe as Roebling Road but the North course is much better than the full course (even though you still have to do the 17a and 17b combo). I wouldn't think the North Course would be a bad track for a first timer. The problem is that they don't accept anyone under 18. :)

Sent in my application for the event today. Hope I get in. anyone else signing up?
Me and my friend with the T78 RX7 will be there.

See ya there, Steve
Steve,

Glad to hear Jonathon got the T-78 going. How is it running? I'm off to Texas next weekend to get the Supra. We will have to settle this RX-7/Supra debate once and for all ;)

Cool, I'll be there with a friend in a track prepped 3 series and a guy with a mostly stock 3rd gen Rx-7. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Jim,

We don't have Jonathan's RX7 running yet but hopefully by next weekend.

I wish you guys good luck with getting it running.

Say hi to Jonathan for me... I want a ride in it when it's done. I'd like to see how the Power FC does with the T-78.

Jim
hey i wish i could go w/ you guys, but BMW won't let me drive. I did go to the NASA even there though and the North carse is a lot of fun. Steve, let me know what speed you're hitting on the straight. i rode in my instructors single turbo RX-7 and we hit 155. Have fun and be safe.
I have run the full course before. I was on street tires so I'm sure he got a much better run out of turn 17a than I did but I hit low to mid 140's on the front straight with stock muffler and 15psi. With race tires, 17psi and my HKS exhaust I would would probably be very close to that number. Of course if a frog had wings, well you know how it goes. :D

I just checked the tarheel BMWCCA website and the event is full and my name is not on the list. Damnit. Guess I'll see you and the Supra at some other event.

Good god!!!! That's nuts!!!!!

155mph!?!?!?!

Where is this race track???? They sure don't have tracks like that where I'm at. I can only go up to maybe ~120mph at Laguna Seca. I know for a fact that you can't hit speeds like that at Sears Point, Thunderhill, or Buttonwillow. All California tracks. Wow! to hit 155mph on every lap! I can't imagine it..

So tell me, where is this track?? I need to know, so I can start looking for housing in that area, because I'm moving!
