Hi, I'm pretty new here (haven't posted much...) Wondering if anyone could help me out finding an exhaust option for my 87 N/A that improves power, but doesn't raise the noise level hardly at all. This sounds stupid, but my last car (83 MKII) was so loud the landlord threatened to kick me out. Can I just increase the pipe size, remove the res. and keep the stock muffler on? How restrictive is it? Let me know what you think, i appreciate it.

If you remove the resonator, it's going to get louder, no way around that. If you keep the muffler and resonator and maybe the cat(or get a high flow), but just increase the pipe diameter, it shouldn't be too bad and it'll increase power, but of course not how it would if it was straight through(= LOUD). But remember n/a's need backpressure. That '83 in your sig looks pretty interesting, have any pics?

I just installed a 3inch DP, made a 3inch test pipe to replace my cat and installed the 3inch tanabe hypermedallion(all in stainless) and the car is very quiet but still deep and throaty. I don't know if they make this pipe for the n/a but mine came from suprasport.com if you want to check.

Thanks for the info.. Here is a pic of the outside (nothing special as you can see as far as ext. mods). Currently it is on jack stands taken apart (2 steel beams went thru the oil pan), but i'll get one up of the hood compart soon
