Good place for tires in the Seattle/Tacoma area (also tire suggestions please)

1. Wondering if there are any tire shops to get some good meats at this summer when I get back to the states from Iraq. Haven't been too picky about the tires I've ran on any past car, but obviously it's different this time around. Or would I be better off buying online?

2. With that in mind, I searched and researched quite a bit lately on what size tires I'd like to run. As far as wheels, I'm thinking either the CCW classics or CCW SP20's in 18X8 (F) and 18X11.5 (R). Tire size given on the posts I've found, I'm thinking a 265/35/18 (F) and 305/30/18. I'm looking to keep fender and body modifications to the minimum, but would be willing to roll the inner fender lip in the rear to squeeze in the 305's (maybe even 315's). My question here is what do you guys think of the tire sizes mentioned? Should I aim for a thicker sidewall in back and less wide tire to fit with minimal modifications?

3. And the last question is what tire should I run? I'm looking for a high grip tire (straight line and a bit of cornering) that will last a decent amount of time (car won't be daily driven anyways). I've been eyeballing the BF Goodrich G-Force T/A Drag Radials, but am concerned about the length of life they have to offer. Would it be wise to run the T/A drags in back and a seperate longer lasting tire up front?

Thanks for any info or input you have. I have searched and searched and am just looking for as much reassurance as possible before I dump a wad of money on a set of tires I won't be happy with.

Oh and as far as visual, this is the look I was aiming for:

And the shot that got me liking the BFG T/A Drags ;) :

Again, thanks for any help. Like I said, tire and rim sizes/offsets are not a strong point for me.

I would definately get the BFG drag radials. They are an overall good tire. Lifespan of the tires isnt that big of an issue, my last set I got ~10k miles on including a couple trips to the strip and driving to Vegas and back.

I've used drag radials...BFG in specific.. And switching between lanes at speed ..feels like your ass end is all over the place. I prefer a good high quality street tire. Sure BFGs are "legal" to use on the street and you can "smoke some foo" at a street light with minimal tire spin. But frankly you can smoke them on street tires too. I come from a big single mindset...so anything less horsepower is even better traction.

I've also used r componds on the street. They literally "catch" the ruts in the hwy..so switching lanes is just like the drag radials but with a lot more force.

Bottom line. Best way to go is to get good street tires and have an extra set of drag radials..slicks whatever to swap on at the track (or before a race).

Don't compromise or it will hamper your supra driving experience. You said it wouldn't be daily driven..but I am assuming it will be a cruiser.

As for the CCW's they are pretty common and were quite popular with the drag race folks for the "extra set" so if your stuck on getting then CCW might just ask for another pair of rims (or 4 if your road racing). You are right on with your sidewall choice and sizes. You will have to roll/cut your rear fender to fit those under. My rim sizes were 18 X 9.5 front and 18 X 10.5 rear.

I found that it rubbed with wider 275X30X18 in the front. In the back I used a 295X35 and was ok. In any event hope that gives you some perspective.

As far as a shop......or buying online...well as usual online is always cheaper. Its worth buying a set new. peace of mind and an extra guarnanty of bling/no road rash.

Also remember online prices never advertise shipping usually...so its one have one way one half the other. CCW's are pretty common so it shouldn't be to hard to locate a pair. I'd recommend google and finding someone that will give you a package deal.

Sorry for the long winded explanation but gotta give a solider something to do on the off time :) Be safe

Thank you guys very much for the info.

After reading some posts and contacting CCW, I think I'm going to order the SP20's in an 18X9.5" (F) and 18X11.5" (R). As for tires, I think I'm gonna stick with the 265/35/18's in front and try to squeeze the 315/30/18's in the rear with a fender roll. Maybe I'll try 305's, but does anyone even make a 305?

Now the next question is what tire to get. Like I said, the BFG drag's are a choice, but I'm aiming for that "cruise friendly" and overall well balanced tire.

And thanks for the support, guys. Not military, just a civilian contractor over here supporting our 4/9 Stryker boys. The work involved is certainly different from the military, but the work schedule ain't no different though. 7 days a week with 12+ hour days. There's only one day of the week in Iraq, and that's Monday. ;)

Looking forward to the trip back home in July for some R&R time.
