ok, so i got a speeding ticket in stockton a couple of weeks. i got the bill in the mail yesterday for $255, not bad, i was expecting much worse.
my question is, will a judge let me take traffic school if i have taken it in the past 18 months? i know they say you cant but can a judge make an exception? hope someone knows the answer to this so i don't have to drive back to stockton for no reason.

thanks

No, they won't. I mean you can delay your ticket but I don't remember if its 18 months from when you got the ticket or 18 months when you send your plea in. I would check with the court.

i don't think i can delay it for that long. haha.

i thought about just calling the court but i don't want to talk to some random person that doesn't have a clue. i'd rather ask here where someone might have been in the same situation.

thanks

actually he can grant you another traffic school day (funny thing is i was talking to a friend about this today..as long as you dont tell him that you're not eligable and he still offers it to you, you can still do it)....in fact there is also a secondary traffic school where you have to go in person for a whole 8 hour day on a saturday (i know this bc it was offered to me)

haha ya again.
last time i went to see the judge here the first thing he did was ask me if i had taken traffic school in the last 18 months, at that time i hadn't so i told him no so i got to take it.
i'm sure this one will ask too and i can't lie so i'll be SOL.
last time he wasn't down to reduce my fine either lol.

guess i'll have to go and find out :/

If your lucky that day the regular judge might be off and there would be a sit in judge who would grant you traffic school plus reduce your fine. It's always best to show up in person, most judge will look at your first impression and how you present yourself,if you look like a smart decent guy he will most likely give you a break. Gl

Shelvin, I have a traffic attorney if you're interested. He's pretty good.

Chris
hey chris, been a long time man.
i've never used a traffic attorney, do you think it would be worth it in my case? if so, please pm me his info. i'm not really worried about the fine, its just the point on my record i don't want.
thanks man

k, been there done that..........the answer is yes, level 2 traffic school, REQUEST IT.

if u dont feel like paying. ask if u can pay thru community service.......which is a bitch (1 hour for every $10 of the fine = 25+ hours?)

actually he can grant you another traffic school day (funny thing is i was talking to a friend about this today..as long as you dont tell him that you're not eligable and he still offers it to you, you can still do it)....in fact there is also a secondary traffic school where you have to go in person for a whole 8 hour day on a saturday (i know this bc it was offered to me)
exactly what he said, first traffic school u can do online which is CAKE. 2nd one is what he mentioned

i dont know how it works up there but around here they stopped reducing fines. the most youll get deducted is 10-20 bucks
