Well, no great numbers yet but I have been to the track twice
with the T78 with .84 A/R turbo and I like it more and more.
We rented MIR dragway Wednesday and I ran into 2 issues.
1) My meth/water inj did not work so I was limited to ~16-17lbs.
2) My new M+H drag radials heat the tranny up to much while trying
to do a burn-out. I need to get a line-lock before running decent E.T.'s.
On 16-17lbs I ran several 11.2 passes with high 122mph traps. I was very
happy with the traps through a 3800 stall and very low boost. The 1/8th
times were 7.2-7.3 at 97-98mph. I was losing ~3 tenths in the 330' due
to the lack of burnout and subsequent tire spin. This turbo is not even
awake at 16lbs, so I am happy with that performance.

I got the meth injection working and took the car to our local 1/8th mile
track today. Due to the above tranny heating problem I launched with
little/no boost so the ET's are bad. With 93 octane and the meth spraying
on 19 lbs I ran [email protected] then at 20lbs ran [email protected] Air/fuels
were at 11.4-11.6 for the runs. Those 1/8th traps should translate into
solid 126 mph traps in the quarter. I am extremely pleased with that. On
the way home I got 3 gallons of 112 octane from a friend. Turned the boost
up to 21.5lbs. The Air/fuels were still ~11.6 and the car really felt strong at that
boost. Can't wait to run the 1/4 mile at that boost to see what she traps.
I am running Derek's meth kit with standard flow and #15 nozzle shooting
straight meth. I hope I can get 23lbs on 104 octane + meth without running
lean.
Thanks again to Ryan23 for doing a great install on this turbo. I'm not a
"Big Dog" running low boost with stock fuel/meth but the car is damn fun
on the street. It is also laughably faster than a C5 Z06 from a highway
punch at 21.5lbs as I found out on the way home. He was probably stock,
but the buslegnths I pulled on him was very eye-opening. At BPU I always
considered a C5 Z06 reasonably good competition from a higher speed
roll even with race gas. It was so nice to dust one that easily. :bigthumb:
Enough rambling. Eric, I deninately love your old turbo. Thanks!

good to hear Wayne! nice numbers. I was trapping 99MPH and the 1/8 when I was doing the 126.8MPH at 22-23PSI in the 1/4 the other day at MIR for reference!

Thanks Josh! Those numbers are good for reference. Your 6 speed will gain
more in the 2nd 1/8th than my auto, but that still looks like a solid 126 mph
since I would be starting 3mph higher. Can't wait to put that theory to the
test. :)
Thanks

Wayne, those are some awesome ETs and trap speeds for the amount of boost you're running! I'm glad youre having fun with that turbo. now lets get a fuel system and run some low 10's! :bigthumb:

Thanks Eric. I really want to stay with the meth and stock
fuel for awhile. I see Larry at SP is putting together a
4speed GM automatic for the Supra. Later on I might go
with that and fuel. But for now, I just want a reasonably
fast daily driver on pump gas. The car is filling that bill
fairly well. Thanks! :)

Thanks Val. I e-mailed Mason-Dixon about a track rental. Are you
interested? I should have more details in a few days. Would like
to shoot for the end of June or in July.

Unfortunately, No I am not, around that time of the year my car will be in the paint booth. But thanks for the invite.

Hey Alex,
Up to 23 lbs today in the heat. 11.8 AIR/FUELS. Feeling really good.
I may have to hit Mason-Dixon on Sunday. Even with just a 1.6X sixty
foot that should go [email protected] We will soon see.

Whats up Wayne,

Glad to see you back in a singled supra. Let me know when you are coming up to Mason Dixon. I would love to come watch your Supra run 10's. Looks like a good 1/8 mile time.

John,
Good to hear from you. I may try to go this Sunday if my wife doesn't
dis-own me. :) How is build-up going? Does Rich have his Cobra back
to the track?

Hey Wayne, congrats on the times!!! Sounds like it will be even more stout once you get her all sorted out. :coold:

You mentioned the tranny was heating up... what kind of cooling mods do you have for it? How many cooler(s) and fan(s)? And c'mon, C5 Z06s were pretty easy to prey on even on pump gas on a strong BPU car. :hide:

Email me your number... I tried calling what I had for your cell phone and it was some lady lol. hungwinjza80 at gmail dot com

Take care,

Hung,
I still have your cell #, I'll give you a call. Yeah, the Z06's are fairly
easy prey at the track but from highway speed with the high stall
they were a handfull for me. I would pull well on them from ~60 to
110mph but then they would hold their ground. Before the stall my
top end pull was much better but I couldn't get out of the 12's at
the track. Now I kinda get the best of both to some extent. :)
What is going on with your car? Any changes lately?
Thanks. I'll give you a shout this evening.
