Get the pacesetters, they are dirt cheap and will work for sure on a supra, but honestly trying to get more from a GE is pointless. So much easier to go NA-T and make more power with like 3 psi of boost.

 

Love my GE! Never gonna turbo it. The best upgrade I did to my engine (aside from the MLS head gasket) was get a 2.5" free-flowing cat back exhaust. I have a Hushpower II resonator and a Magnaflow "muffler". It's borderline too loud but sounds so good. The engine response is way better than a restrictive (but very quiet) Bosel cat back. It revs more freely and has power down to 1500rpm, so driveability improved quite a bit. Maybe it has more top-end power, but I've never measured it.

I've thought about getting headers over the years, but the stock manifold really isn't all that bad for a GE.

 

Sure if you are happy with it stay with it, but you are spending hundreds for maybe 5-10 hp at best. Almost unnoticeable, will defiantly change the sound of things.

Yeah, the main reason I wanna do this is because the ge is pretty peppy when I drive on the backroads near me where there’s only farmland, but at higher speeds on some twisties near me (at a higher elevation and slightly higher incline) the engine refuses to make any top end power, so I figured an exhaust upgrade would help just to pep it up a bit! I would turbo it, but my block apparently overheated already in the past with the previous owner (I honestly don’t know how they could have accomplished that), so I think even low boost would definitely shorten its lifespan😅😅 And I also don’t have the time/skill yet for that sort of mechanical work, but maybe in the future if I can find a lower mileage JZ/UZ/7MGTE for a reasonable price… But I’m thinking I’ll definitely go with the pacesetters then for my headers, and check out the hushpower II resonators/magnaflow setup, especially if you like it Asterix!
